the happy craft challenge. using Napkins

My Happy   Challenge  with Megan Flynn

This weeks  challenge, which is due Thursday , 4th October, is  using a Napkin,                           I have decided to   make a card,
Its been a while, like  6 months,  since ive done an online challenge. but  saw this challenge & thought i would give it a go over the  long weekend .

products used
party  napkins,  ( 2 ply)
Christmas   napkins  4 ply)
Mont Morte  Water colour  paper pad, 300 gsm
Rico Design Napkin glue 130 ml.  (below is the bottle)

Kaiser  Mountain  Air  sticker flowers
  Collall 3 D Decoupage ,
hand made   glitter   mists
Close to my heart - glitter pen
Liquid Drops  3d  rouge ( for berries)
The  25th dec is from  sticker sheet of Photo Play  here comes Santa .
white gel pen
Kaiser - Lipstick  ink , the green is from  Tim Holtz  distress  inks  - Mowed Lawn

My   red napkin is  2 ply,  which  means  i need to only get one layer of the backing  off.
My other one  is 4 ply, so this works well also , i take off one sheet , put it on my lap, ( for any spills)  next layer i place  under my card, ( for project )  next layer  goes beside me , (in case i  get glue on my hands and i can  clean them ) , LOl and the top  layer  is for the card ,

I love using  short  stiff brushes,  so  have used  Mont Marte  Gallery series  brush acrylic set,  works good with me.  the other long  brushes are just for decoration in my  container
I   get  the feel of   the brush and i can work quickly if need be .
I started off using  Mont Morte  Water colour  paper pad, 300 gsm   it does not   curl up , as  with using plain  cardstock  which  bends up when you apply  the wet  glue,

The glue i  use, when  doing napkins  is Rico Design Napkin glue 130ml.   it  goes on smooth,  the best part is that you dont have to   glue underneath first, but  just apply the  napkin straight to  your project,   you dont need  extra layers like some other brands. so one coat is enough, although if you want , you can add another layer over the top.
When   doing my project, i always start in the centre of my project, and work out,  so that you work on a circle  from middle out all the way   The longer  your strokes, the more  you will get creases and it tears, but i like doing just short strokes to mine i feel  i get more coverage  quicker
so  i started off tonight, with  my red napkin,  when it was touch dry,  i place it in a plastic bag and put it  under my computer  and craft  mat  to flatten  (making sure that its not wet, )  as you   will have it sticking to  your plastic bag. which you dont want that effect , not fun

After  about 20 mins ( i went for tea )   i took out & cut around unwanted parts of the napkin  of the card,
Next   my  green  border   napkin , again , i have placed it on  the white  sheet again  and the same process  as before starting from the centre
if by chance you  place it down and theres a big crease that you dont want , lift it carefully while still wet and brush over again, making sure you get  out all your air  bubbles as well.
You  need to wait til completely dry, before  using your trimmer on cutting out edges  or you will tear  the  work you have just  completed,
Collall 3 D Decoupage ,  This   is my life saver,   gone are my days of   foam  tape. for me,  this  you just apply  to  your  project  the thicker you apply the  higher  the  depth,  i usually only  put it on not too thick ,but  thick enough to add height to my project,   it dries clear,  but you are not going to see it anyway,   you can put  unused back into the tube,  but i  just add enough  to what i think, if i need more its easy to  add   the tube has a wide  opening  putting it though the springe, gives you a fine   line  to work on ,
On my leaves  i have added  Close to my Heart  glitter pen,  it just gives   that extra bit of Bling, without  taking away from  the  project,
The  25th dec is from  sticker sheet of Photo Play  Here comes Santa . i have  placed white gel pen around it
I love to ink anything that ive cut,  so  Kaiser - Lipstick  ink & the green is from  Tim Holtz  distress  inks  - Mowed Lawn

Hope you like my card and play along with this   challenge

template Christmas cards

hello,

need  a card in a hurry, but dont have the time to make  a  fancy one, with this template you can create 12 easy cards or more if you cut again  on the diagonal  i have used 2 sheets , you can create these  in in minutes, you can then add embellishments as you wish, be  Birthday, Christmas  or what ever the theme.

i have only used   basic  products, as i didnt want to get out  embossing folders etc, but again  , this you can add for extra pop . i recently went to  the Crafty Chain last saturday for their  $1.00 bargains  and found  some cute snowmen and snowflakes  to add to my papers not too high  for posting

well,  off to  make some more tonight, i m almost half way, then later on make 12  pretty ones for handing out  at Christmas time

Have fun, til next time we  meet .
